Bishop Canevin eliminated from playoff race, falls 4-3 to Elizabeth Forward

CASTLE SHANON, Pa. — The Elizabeth Forward Warriors fought off a Bishop Canevin rally to defeat the Crusaders 4-3 Monday night at Ice Castle.

After Elizabeth Forward jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two power play goals in the first and second periods by Sean Weber and Jake Provident, Bishop Canevin got on the board at 10:09 of the second from Cameron Ropchock.

Michael Vasko scored a short handed goal just 31 seconds into the third period to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead. Chase Evans then scored twice in two minutes to tie the game 3-3 for the Crusaders.

The comeback fell short when Vasko scored his second of the game at 9:08 of the third and Warriors’ goaltender Billy Siemon shut the door the rest of the way to seal the 4-3 win. Siemon stopped 37 of 40 shots in the contest.

Bishop Canevin goaltender Zach Hartlep saved 13 of 17 shots in the losing effort.

With the loss, Bishop Canevin was eliminated from playoff contention.
