Pittsburgh, PA — The first City Game on Ice held at PPG Paints Arena since 2011 featured rivals Pitt and Duquesne on Friday night and it was the Panthers knocking off their neighbors by a 3-1 margin.
The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to goals by Craig Mazzotta and J.D. Oddi. The Dukes cut the deficit in half with a goal by Jason Bechtel in the second. Pitt added an insurance goal midway through the third by Daniel Merz to preserve a 3-1 victory.
The Dukes then played host to John Carroll on Saturday, dropping a 6-2 decision. The Panthers hosted IUP, claiming a 4-1 victory.
