Greater Latrobe stays perfect, defeats Meadville 6-0

GREENSBURG, Pa., – The Latrobe Wildcats used a complete team effort and stayed perfect on the season by defeating the Meadville Bulldogs 6-0 Monday night at Kirk S. Nevin Arena.

The Wildcats held the Bulldogs to 11 shots in the game.

Josh Martino was credited with the game winning goal when he scored the first goal for Latrobe in the first period.

Cole Ferri added two more for Latrobe in the second period, and of Latrobe’s first two shots on net in the final period, Alex Schall and JS Florek scored just 10 seconds apart. Ferri completed the hat trick at 10:08 to end the scoring for the Wildcats.

While Latrobe has been splitting the duties at goaltender, it was Greg Irons who got the start for the Wildcats Monday. He finished the night stopping all 11 shots on goal for his second shutout on the season. Jordan McCurdy has been the regular starter for Meadville between the pipes and he ended the night stopping 46 of 52 shots on goal.

Greater Latrobe improves to 7-0, but will have little time to rest before South Fayette visits Nevin Arena on Thursday, November 21 at 7:15 p.m.

Meadville fell to 2-4 with Monday’s loss. After playing their last two games on the road against Southeast division opponents, the Bulldogs will head back home to host Baldwin on Monday, November 25 at 7:35 p.m. at the Meadville Area Recreation Complex in West Mead Township.
