Latrobe’s Dalton Hunter to attend Islanders development camp

DALTON HUNTER SKATES FOR THE TOMAHAWKS. -- PHIL ANDRAYCHAK/JOHNSTOWN TOMAHAWKS.

Greensburg native and former Latrobe forward Dalton Hunter will attend prospect development camp with the New York Islanders starting Tuesday, June 27.

Hunter, 19, was not selected in the 2017 NHL Draft and is free to sign with any team. He is committed to attend Mercyhurst University starting with the 2018-19 season. He’s expected to play for the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL in 2017-18.

Last season, Hunter scored 30 goals and recorded 67 points for the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL, finishing second on the team in both categories.

The breakout performance put Hunter on the prospect map after having totaled 10 and 16 points over his first two season with the Tomahawks.

Hunter played for Latrobe for two seasons and also spent three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program.
