No. 1 Moon routs Central Valley

WARRENDALE, Pa. — The top-seeded Moon Tigers poured it on in a 9-2 rout of Central Valley in the quarterfinals of the 2018 PIHL Division 2 playoffs.

The Tigers got two-goal nights from Shawn Hytla, Zachary Wildasin and Logan Zarin as the Tigers took a 2-0 lead after the fist period and never really looked back. Defenseman Jordan Chamberlain scored the eventual game-winner early in the third and Lukas Konescni stopped 17 of 19 to let the Tigers advance.

Moon dropped down from the Double-A classification after the 2016-17 season after combining with OLSH to form one team. The result has been a mix of skill and depth that has been a challenge for opponents at the Division 2 level.

The Tigers finished the regular season 17-1 and haven’t lost since December, giving the Moon squad the perception of a juggernaut looming over the proceedings in the second division.
