Norwin opens 2019 season with 7-2 win over Beaver

SALEM TWP., Pa. – The Norwin Knights opened their 2019-20 campaign with a 7-2 win over the Beaver Bobcats.

Seniors Jacob Dally (two goals, two assists) and Logan Connelly (three goals) led the Knights, who had 11 different players register at least one point in the win.

Beaver saw some life in the third period, receiving goals from Khaleil Laracuente and Andreas Portugallo, but couldn’t stay out of the penalty box.

Norwin junior Sam Coll stopped 8 of 10 shots on net. Beaver had freshman Dom Amthor between the pipes, who ended the night stopping 21-28 shots.

Logan Marsalko was credited with the game winning goal at 12:56 of the first period.

UP NEXT:

Norwin will travel down Route 30 to Kirk S. Nevin Arena in Greensburg, Pa. to play Greensburg Salem on Monday, Oct. 6. The two teams faced each other during the Greensburg Salem preseason tournament. Norwin got the best of Greensburg Salem by the score of 7-2 on Sept. 16.

Beaver will head back home to Brady’s Run Ice Arena in Brighton Twp., Pa. to host Thomas Jefferson. While the Bobcats will be looking to rebound, the Jaguars will be playing their first game of the season after winning the Greensburg Salem preseason tournament championship in OT over the Ringgold Rams.
