The Robert Morris women are climbing the rankings after a weekend sweep of the Brown Bears.

The Colonials, who eked past Brown last Saturday after unloading for an 11-0 victory on Friday, are tied for No. 9 in the USA Today / USA Hockey Coaches Poll and No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll. That’s a bump up of one spot in each of the national polls from a week ago.

Robert Morris is tied with Cornell in the coaches’ poll and one spot behind them in the media poll. The Colonials have been ranked in at least one national poll for 19 consecutive weeks.

In the Pairwise rankings, which help determine at-large bids and seeding for the NCAA Tournament, the Colonials are ranked No. 5. The top four teams in Pairwise get at-large tournament bids after the four conference tournament champions get automatic bids.

STANDING OUT

In a weekend that contained an 11-0 victory, there were bound to be many performance worthy of recognition on the Robert Morris squad.

But sophomore winger Jaycee Gebhard and first-year defender Emily Curlett did enough to stand out for College Hockey America weekly honors.

Gebhard was named CHA Player of the Week and Curlett was named Rookie of the Week. Gebhard had a goal and six assists over two games. Curlett recorded her first collegiate goal and finished the weekend with three points.

The RMU women will face a conference foe for the first time this season, as they visit Penn State for two games this weekend. They’ll face the Nittany Lions at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

WHITE OUT

Robert Morris president Dr. Chris Howard has called for a white out as the RMU men’s team hosts Ohio State in the second game of a home-and-home on Saturday. Ohio State is the only non-conference team that will visit the RMU Island Sports Center this season.
