Robert Morris and Penn State will resume their men’s hockey rivalry in 2018-19, with the teams playing a home-and-home series Nov. 9 and 10.

The game on Friday, Nov. 9 will be played at Pegula Ice Arena at Penn State. The venue for following night’s game on, Saturday, Nov 10, has not been officially announced, but a source tells PHD that it will likely be played at RMU Island Sports Center.

Penn State swept the two-game home-and-home series in 2017, beating Robert Morris 5-2 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Dec. 8 and winning 7-4 at Pegula Ice Arena.

The Colonials and Nittany Lions have played eight times since Penn State’s team became a varsity squad in 2012. The teams are 4-4.

Five of the first eight games were played at PPG Paints Arena, with RMU holding a 3-2 record in those games. The teams are 1-1 at Penn State, with PSU’s win in 2017 the first game of the series to be played at Pegula Ice Arena. One game was played at Island Sports Center in 2013 and one at Penn State’s Greenberg Ice Pavilion in 2012.

Both teams feature two returning local players: senior forward Matt Mendelson (Upper St. Clair) and sophomore defenseman Adam Pilewicz (Quaker Valley) for Penn State and junior forwards Jacob Coleman (Moon) and Luke Lynch (Shaler) for Robert Morris.
