PIHL Single-A Semifinal Preview

Montour: The Spartans defeated South Park 6-3 at Mt. Lebanon on Monday.

Why I like Montour: Given their first real test outside of West Allegheny and Meadville, the Spartans rose to the occasion after falling behind to the Eagles early. Expect Thomas Jefferson to give them even more of a test, and the Spartans should be ready to meet them stride-for-stride.

Thomas Jefferson: The Jaguars defeated Meadville 4-1 at RMU Island Sports Center on Monday.

Why I like Thomas Jefferson: Speed and skill explode in this matchup. The Jaguars have an explosive transition game, and sophomore goaltender Luke Ripepi is coming off of a career game against the Bulldogs.

South Fayette: The Lions defeated North Hills 5-2 at Printscape Arena on Tuesday.

Why I like South Fayette: As the most balanced team remaining, the Lions can get the job done by any means necessary. John Trinkala put together his most complete game against North Hills on Tuesday.

West Allegheny: The Indians defeated Indiana 7-2 at RMU Island Sports Center on Monday.

Why I like West Allegheny: West Allegheny never gave Indiana a chance on Monday, as Indiana was one of the more complete teams left in the final eight.
