New Kensington, Pa. – Logan Schlegel, his second of the night, and Tyler Vecchio, game winner, scored one minute apart in the third period to help the Plum Mustangs beat the Hampton Talbots 4-3 at Pittsburgh Ice Arena on Monday, November 11th.

Despite being outshot 16-7 in the first period both teams ended the first 17 minutes tied as Logan Schlegel, Plum, and Daniel Venture, Hampton, found the back of the net for their respective teams.

Nic Pushic broke the tie early in the second period when he was able to split two Hampton defenders to cause a breakaway and beating a sprawling goaltender with a backhand. The lead would stand for the Mustangs until mid-period when the Talbots earned a powerplay goal from Joey Pankowski. Pankowski was alone in the right circle when he received the puck from Logan Scanlon who was at the goal line.

Down by two Hampton pulled their goalie and with 25 seconds left in the game, Logan Scanlon got the Talbots within one. A good defensive stand by the Mustangs in the winding seconds held the Talbots off.

Starting in net for Plum was Joe Miller who ended the night stopping 19 of 22 shots on goal. Hampton went with Jake McGee who stopped 27 of 31 shots on goal.

UPNEXT:

Both teams will play their next games against the Moon Tigers. Plum will have a long break before traveling to Baierl Ice Complex to play Moon on Monday, December 2nd, and Hampton will host the Tigers on Monday, November 25th, at the Frozen Pond Arena in Richland Township.
