Tyler Putnam’s pair pushes Blue to win in PIHL Class-3A All-Star Game

NEVILLE TWP., Pa. — North Allegheny’s Tyler Putnam scored two goals as Blue defeated Gold, 10-7 in the 2020 PIHL Class-3A All-Star Game.

Putnam scored on a break 2:53 into the third period that put Blue ahead for good after Gold had tied the game.

Gold led 4-0 after the first period, but Blue charged back with five unanswered, starting with Putnam’s first goal with 37 seconds to play in the first period. Both of Putnam’s tallies were assisted by North Allegheny teammate Will Perreaguirre.

“It’s a fun atmosphere knowing that you’re going up against some of the best competition,” Putnam said.

Four straight goal scorers hailed from Pine-Richland, as Richard Wild had a pair for Gold, but they were answered by teammates Charlie Mill and Joe Folmer.

Seneca Valley freshman Kowin Belsterling scored a second-period gold for Blue and had two helpers to tie Wild for a game-high three points.

Peters Township goaltender Alex Wilbert worked a scoreless first period for Gold. All three Wilbert brothers found the scoresheet. Drew Wilbert had a goal assisted a Jordan Adams (Cathedral Prep) goal for Blue in the first period and Eric Wilbert found Andrew Woomer (Upper St. Clair) for a Blue goal in the second period and assisted on a Josh Hrip (Canon-McMillan) tally.
