In the Rink: PIHL Week 15

Here is the “In the Rink” coverage of the PIHL during week 15 of the regular season.

MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 2018

MITCH’S PICS

Mitch traveled to Center Ice Arena in Delmont where he took in Kiski Area and Norwin in a single-A matchup. Kiski prevailed in the contest, defeating Norwin 8-4. Austin Lapiana scored the first five goals of the contest for Kiski.

He would later travel up Rt. 66 to Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a Division 2 contest between the Burrell Bucs and Elizabeth Forward Warriors. Tyler Stewart overcame an extreme illness to lead the Bucs to a 4-3 overtime victory.

MAJOR FOCUS

Ed Major II provided coverage for a pair of double-A games at Ice Castle, starting with Upper St. Clair’s 5-4 victory over Franklin Regional.

The second game saw Shaler traveling to meet Baldwin, who was also hosting a senior night at Ice Castle. The Titans played spoiler in the matchup, defeating the Highlanders 4-3 in overtime.

PETERS TOWNSHIP HOCKEY ON PHD’S FACEBOOK LIVE

Matt Gajtka and Jake Young hosted another week of LIVE Peters Township Indians in a triple-A matchup with Seneca Valley on our Facebook page, this week originating from the Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale. Peters Township defeated Seneca Valley 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Torrey Schwartz.



TUESDAY, JANUARY 23rd, 2018

MITCH’S PICS

Mitch headed to the Ice Mine for Division 2 action between the Connellsville Falcons and Morgantown Mohawks. The Falcons defeated the Mohawks 4-3.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 25th

MITCH’S PICS

To complete the PIHL double-A rounds, Mitch headed to Center Ice Arena in Delmont. Armstrong made the trip to face Penn-Trafford, and in the end it was the River Hawks besting the Warriors 9-3.
