Jason Malesky opened up the scoring for the Crusaders at 13:47 of the first period, but Trinity responded with a goal from Corey Blommel at 12:26. The two teams remained deadlocked until 3:57 when Cameron Ropchock drove the net on a breakaway, giving Bishop Canevin a 2-1 lead.

The second period belonged to the Crusaders, as Evan Victor, Turner Anslem and Kevin Randal fired off three goals in a span of 2:51, which Colton Clingermanstang responded with a breakaway goal of his own 1:45 later. Late goals from Ropchock and Victor gave Bishop Canevin an assumed 7-2 lead heading into the cut, but Garrett Gellner scored a late tally to close the scoring out in the second.
