PITTSBURGH — Robert Morris junior forward Alex Tonge will participate in the Winnipeg Jets development camp June 26 through 30.

Tonge, 22, finished his freshman season at Robert Morris in 2016-17. His 36 total points was third in the Atlantic Hockey Conference and he was the fifth-highest scoring sophomore in all of NCAA Division I.

After failing to score a goal as a freshman in 2015-16, Tonge responded with a 20-goal season last year, good for second on the team. The Kingston, Ontario native also added 24 assists, more than doubling his total from the previous season.

Tonge was not drafted by an NHL team and is free to sign as an undrafted free agent at any time. Former Robert Morris players Brandon Denham and Tyson Wilson both spent the 2015-16 season with the Winnipeg organization. Former Robert Morris forward Daniel Leavens also skated in the Jets’ 2016 development camp.

Pittsburgh Hockey Digest reported on Friday that Tonge’s teammate Brady Ferguson will attend development camp with the Pittsburgh Penguins later this month, as well.
