CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — Upper St. Clair scored five straight goals from five different players en route to a 6-2 win over rivals Baldwin in the PIHL Penguins Cup playoffs at Ice Castle on Monday night.

Baldwin took both regular season matchups, a 5-4 shootout victory on November 5 and a 6-3 victory on February 11. The playoff matchup was a different story. After an early Baldwin goal, Upper St. Clair went on a roll.

Noah Fischer got the scoring started for the Highlanders just over six minutes into the first period to take the early lead. From there, it was all Panthers. Baldwin had trouble keeping possession of the puck and Upper St. Clair took advantage. Devin Rohrich tied the game 1-1 on a power play. Just 20 seconds later, Mark McQuade gave the Panthers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Colton Shiry, Joseph Pulit, and Anthony Carone all joined the scoring party in the second period to further take control of the game.

Keith Reed got one back for the Highlanders just under seven minutes into the third period, but Carone’s second of the game with three and a half to play sealed the 6-2 win in front of Kyle Rohrich’s solid performance between the pipes for the Panthers.

Upper St. Clair advances to play the winner of Mars and Franklin Regional in the semifinals on March 13 at 9:00 p.m. at the RMU Island Sports Center.
