Eddie Pazo’s two goals lead Thomas Jefferson over South Park

CASTLE SHANNON — Eddie Pazo scored twice and Ryan Kelly secured the game-winner as Thomas Jefferson defeated South Park, 5-3 on Monday.

Pazo and Hunter Fairman each had three points for the Jaguars, which improved to 14-1 and moved into first place in the PIHL Class-A Southwest Conference.

Fairman and Pazo each scored in the first period to give TJ a 2-0 lead, but power play goals from Kirk Stewart in the second and Justin Mettrick early in the third allowed South Park to tie the game.

Ryan Kelly scored the game-winner for TJ at the 9:43 mark of the third period. The Jaguars added on with a power play goal from Brady Rotolo at 14:53 that Pazo and Fairman each assisted on. Pazo capped the scoring with an empty netter.

Luke Ripepi stopped 16 of 18 for the Jaguars, while Shane Peremba turned aside 24 of 28 for the Eagles.

Thomas Jefferson will stay at home to host Norwin on Jan. 30. South Park will visit Greensburg Salem on Feb. 3.
