Penguins Elite product Suttelle commits to St. Lawrence

Local Pens Elite 19U defender Aubrey Suttelle committed to St. Lawrence University, the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite hockey program announced via twitter Monday. The Shady-Side Academy senior had just celebrated her 18th birthday three weeks ago, on November 18th.

While Penguins Elite 19U hasn’t played any games this season, Suttelle scored two goals in 26 games played during the 2019-20 campaign. She also played four games as part of Team Gold in the Girl’s U16/17 USA Hockey Development camp last year.

St. Lawrence University is located in Canton, NY and participates in the ECAC for hockey. The Saints went 13-16-7 (8-10-4 ECAC) last season and fell in the conference quarterfinals after being swept in two games by Cornell.

Similar to other ECAC hockey schools, such as Cornell, Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, etc., St. Lawrence ranks high academically as the 54th best Liberal Arts college in the U.S. according to US News. Hockey is the school’s only D-I sport, as their other sports compete in the Division III Liberty League conference.
