Colonials defeat Lakers, clinch home-ice

NEVILLE TWP., Pa. — The Colonials completed their season sweep of the Mercyhurst Lakers on Saturday night with a 4-3 victory at the RMU Island Sports Center.

Jacob Coleman started things off for the Colonials when the junior picked the puck from the pads of Colin DeAugustine in a scramble around the net, poking it in to the cage at 4:36 of the first. Joshua Lammon tied things up for Mercyhurst at 17:34, but was bested by the first career goal for Aiden Girduckis.

Mercyhurst tied things up at 4:47 of the second stanza when Steven Ipri scored his 8th of the season, and just under four minutes later the Colonials regained the one goal lead as Sean Giles registered his second of the year.

Luke Lynch scored his eight of the season on the power-play to extend the Colonials lead to two early in the third.

Francis Marotte completed the season starting every game for the Colonials, winning his 12th of the campaign. The junior finished the game with 40 saves on 43 attempts.
