The race for Penguins Cup playoff positioning is in the final week and very few things have been decided! Here are the scenarios for the AA classification.

NOTES: All first-round home games are subject to ice availability, and in the event of a neutral-site game the team that is the ‘higher seed’ is considered the home team. The AA classification has a quirk where if two teams are tied for the final spot, a play-in game will be played to determine the team that qualifies for the postseason regardless of tiebreaker. Any ties that are broken by the tiebreaker for penalty minutes (PIM’s) will not be declared until the team with the lesser amount finishes their season.

z- clinched best record in regular season

AA – 14 teams

NORTHWEST

SCENARIOS:

No. 3 Seed: Moon holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Hampton. The lesser team will receive the No. 4 seed and plays Baldwin in a play-in game.

Hampton with a win over Armstrong AND a Moon loss in either game OR a loss to Armstrong AND two Moon losses in regulation.
Moon with two wins OR a win in either game AND a Hampton loss in any format OR a point in either game AND a Hampton loss in regulation.

No. 5 Seed: A tie automatically triggers a play-in game.

Quaker Valley avoids the play-in game with any point against Pine-Richland OR any loss by Armstrong in either game. A regulation loss by the Quakers and two wins by Armstrong require the play-in game.

SOUTHEAST

SCENARIOS:

No. 1 Seed: Greater Latrobe holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Upper St. Clair. The lesser team receives the No. 2 seed.

Upper St. Clair with a win OR an overtime loss AND a loss by Greater Latrobe in regulation.
Greater Latrobe with a win AND any loss by Upper St. Clair.

No. 3 Seed: Franklin Regional holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Hempfield Area. The lesser team receives the No. 4 seed.

Hempfield Area with a win OR a regulation loss AND a Franklin Regional regulation loss OR an overtime loss AND a Franklin Regional loss in any format.
Franklin Regional with a win or an overtime loss AND a Hempfield Area regulation loss OR a win AND a Hempfield Area overtime loss.
