2019 USA Hockey High School Nationals: Bishop McCort does not leave empty handed

STRONGSVILLE, Oh. — The Bishop McCort Crushers earned their first win in the tournament, defeating the Jesuit College Preparatory Rangers 4-2.

Nakita Zapolski scored his first of two goals on the night, followed by Raman Yerameichyk’s goal in the 2nd period to give the Crushers a 2-0 lead. Bryce Clark cut the lead in half, right before Matsvei Kurylovich extended the lead for McCort with the eventual game-winning goal. The Rangers continued their push, and Seth Dragojevic scored to cut Bishop McCort’s lead to two.

Cole Bradley stopped 16-of-18 SOG (.889%) for the Crushers. The Rangers started the game with Jack Ralphs in net, but after two periods of play and two goals against, he was replace by backup Caden Rupnow, who also let the puck slip past him twice in the third period.

Bishop McCort finished 1-2 in pool play and Jesuit 0-3, with neither team advancing to the quarterfinals.

TOURNAMENT NOTES:

William Miller (3A) and Nakita Zapolski (2G/1A) led the Crushers in points with 3. Cole Bradley finished with a 0.891 save % through three games.

Jon Michael Dragojevic (1G/1A) led the Rangers in point with 2. Goaltender tandem Jack Ralphs and Caden Rupnow stopped 159 out of 176 combined shots on net.
