There will be no road to Buffalo for Robert Morris this year as the Atlantic Hockey announced that this year’s tournament will be played on campus sites.
The no. 19 Colonials (14-5, 10-3-1) are first in the western pod and currently holds home-ice advantage throughout the first three rounds. Only AIC (13-3, 11-1-1) sits above Robert Morris in the east, and the Yellow Jackets haven’t played since January 30th due to the ongoing pandemic. Also of note is that both pod regular season champions will be recognized, having their own individual honors. Currently Robert Morris is on-pace to raise another banner.
The tournament, which is set to take place during the first three weekends of March, will feature first-round single-elimination games followed by a best-of-three quarterfinals between remaining teams of each region. The semifinals will finally see the east and west teams cross-over as the top-seeded east team will host the lower seeded west team, and Vice-versa. It’s worth noting that Air Force, located in Colorado Springs, will be placed in either pod based on the final standings.
Robert Morris has three regular season games left, two games in Rochester against RIT this weekend and their final game in Pittsburgh this upcoming Thursday against Mercyhurst.
