Atlantic Hockey, citing public health concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, has cancelled the remainder of the 2020 Atlantic Hockey Tournament, effective immediately, the league said on its website.
“The situation around COVID-19 has been rapidly changing and evolving over the last 24 hours and Atlantic Hockey feels that, for the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and fans, the best decision we can make is to cancel the remainder of the 2020 Atlantic Hockey Tournament,” the league stated via press release.
Robert Morris defeated Holy Cross in the first round of the tournament on Mar. 6-8, winning games two and three 2-1 and 5-0, respectively, to win the best-of-three series. The Colonials are currently travelling back from Bridgeport, Connecticut, where they would have played Sacred Heart in a three game series.
American International College would be the AHA conference’s automatic bid – as regular season champions – to the 2020 NCAA Tournament if the NCAA moves forward with a national tournament.
