Austin Lemieux has committed to Arizona State University and will start skating for the Sun Devils in the 2017-18 season.
Lemieux, son of Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux, is playing for the Islanders Hockey Club this year and is currently leading the team in scoring with 10 goals and 29 assists for 39 points in 24 games.
The 6-foot-3 forward spent the 2015-16 season with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. Before that, he played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U squad. Lemieux is a Sewickley native.
Arizona State is the newest Division I hockey program and are in the process of playing their first full season at that level. The Sun Devils are currently and independent and are seeking a conference affiliation for 2017-18.
