CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — Five unanswered third-period goals from Baldwin turned a close game into a rout as the Highlanders defeated Armstrong, 9-4 on Tuesday at Ice Castle.
After the Riverhawks tied the game at 4-4 just 1:25 into the third period, Noah Fischer scored the eventual game-winner for Baldwin just 33 seconds later.
The Highlanders then went on a rampage, with Dom Trimbur scoring on the power play at 5:18, Trevor Belak adding an even-strength goal at 14:28 and Jimmy Dulya scoring twice in the final 1:39 of play, once into an empty net.
Twelve different skaters recorded a point for Baldwin.
Lance Quinnell scored twice for Armstrong, including the power-play goal that tied the game early in the third. Quinnell finished with a game-high three points.
Gavin Grafton turned aside 33 of 41 shots for the out-gunned Riverhawks, while Tanner Cindrich made 15 saves on 19 shots for Baldwin.
On Thursday, Baldwin will host Latrobe, while Armstrong returns home to host Meadville.
