After Monroeville-based firm Palmer Products Imaging purchased the naming rights, Center Ice Arena will now be known as Palmer Imaging Arena, according to a press release Tuesday by owner Black Bear Sports Group, Inc.

“What an honor to be partnered with Palmer Products Imaging, a company that has been a mainstay in the community for over 50 years,” said Black Bear Sports Group Founder and CEO Murry Gunty. “We appreciate [PPI President] Jeff Miller’s confidence in our facility and our operating team.”

Palmer Products Imaging creates graphics and signage for its clients and has been in the Pittsburgh area for over 50 years. President Jeff Miller is excited to partner with a local rink.

“This sports facility is part of the fabric of the community we have been a part of for over 50 years. We are thrilled to associate our brand with an asset that provides such an amazing array of programming, featuring affordable family entertainment that promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyles as well as other amenities for the citizens in our area.”

Black Bear Sports Group is a private company that was formed in 2015 and holds 25 facilities across the United States with a combined 47 sheets of indoor ice. Black Bear runs three junior “A” level hockey franchises in the North American Hockey League, United States Hockey League, and the Eastern Hockey League.

The rink website has already been rebranded to include a Palmer Imaging Arena logo and a new website domain at www.palmerimagingarena.com.
