CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — Greg Kraemer was the hero for the Colts as he scored the game-winning goal to lift Chartiers Valley  over North Hills, 3-2, Monday at Ice Castle Arena.

It was all Chartiers Valley in the first period. Ryan Kantner got the Colts on the board first with two goals, the first coming at 7:46 of the first period on a Char Valley power play, and the second at 11:12 on a 4-on-4 situation. The Colts outshot the Indians 13-6.

But in the second, North Hills made the proper adjustments. Joey Spivak cut the lead in half for North Hills at 6:42 before Bram James tied the game less than a minute later. The Indians took a 30-20 advantage in shots into the second intermission. But Char Valley goaltender Logan Marnik locked down the net when it mattered and shut out North Hills the rest of the way to preserve the 3-2 victory after Kraemer gave his squad the lead just over six minutes into the third period.

Chartiers Valley will move on to play Kiski in the Class-1A semifinals at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 14, 2021 at the RMU Island Sports Center.
