The Robert Morris men’s team dropped their season opener, 6-2, to RIT in Rochester, New York, Friday.
Junior forward Timmy Moore scored twice and senior goaltender Dalton Izyk set a career high with 45 saves in a regular-season conference game.
Sophomore Brandon Watt earned a pair of assists and freshman goaltender Francis Marotte made his debut, picking up two saves late in the game in relief of Izyk.
Each team went 1 for 6 on the power play. Robert Morris took four penalties in the third period, and Powell’s goal came on a two-man advantage.
Robert Morris has now lost three straight games to RIT, all of which were played in Rochester.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night.
