WARRENDALE, Pa. — Tommy Gollob scored twice as the Montour Spartans defeated the Moon Tigers 6-2 at Baierl Ice Complex in Class-2A play on Monday night.
Montour thoroughly dominated the first period by outshooting the Tigers 18-3, but were unable to solve Lucas Konecsni until Gollob scored at 1:40.
Moon began their attack early in the second with controlled possession deep int the zone, eventually breaking down the Spartans defense for Bradyn Woods to fire a shot from the point that snuck through Anthony Reinholt with 7:46 remaining in the frame. The lead was short lived for the Tigers, and just 1:01 later Holden Wilpula found the back of the net.
Hunter Suckwish scored his first varsity goal at 10:37 for Moon, but Gollob’s second negated the tie, and two goals by Michael Felsing and freshman David Strilka’s first made it 6-2 at the buzzer.
Konecsni stopped 38-of-44 for the Tigers while Reinholt made 27 saves on 29 shots.
