Peters Township graduate and former Esmark Stars forward Adam Alavi registered nine points (one goal, eight assists) in five games for the Kemptville 73’s of the Central Canada Hockey League. The 19-year-old McMurray native led the 73’s to a 4-1 record during a two week stretch.

Alavi is now fifth on the team in scoring with 22 points on the year, and with 17 coming by assists, the deft passer is third on his squad in that category. Six of his helpers have come on the power play.

Kemptville currently sits in fourth place in the Robinson Division of the CCHL with 34 points, only four points behind league-leading Carleton Place.

05_nhl_shield-svgAt this point of the young season, Whitehall native John Gibson has to be looking under his bed to make sure Columbus Blue Jacket forward Brandon Saad isn’t hiding there. The talented young winger racked up seven points in the last two weeks, and finished his two-game season series against the Ducks net minder with 3 goals and an assist after a goal and an assist November 9th. … Stephen Johns scored a game winner for Dallas against St. Louis on November 3rd. … Vincent Trocheck (Florida) and J.T. Miller (NY Rangers) each added a game winner for their respective teams.

Hershey Bears forward Riley Barber (Pittsburgh) added two goals to give him four on the season, which is third on the Bears. He also added and an assist. … Iowa Wild defenseman Mike Weber tallied a goal and an assist. … Providence Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski (Mt. Lebanon) had a helper and was a plus-2 Friday at Binghamton.

It’s all about the goalies in the ECHL this week. The South Carolina Stingrays’ Parker Milner stopped 69 of 75 shots in a series of four consecutive victories. In Indy, Jake Hildebrand (Butler) was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for his 2-0 week that saw him stop 64 of 66 shots in total and record his first professional shutout on Saturday.

Patrick Gaul, another former Pittsburgh Hornets player, had a four-assist night against Orlando. … Former Robert Morris Colonials captain Tyson Wilson scored his first professional goal for the Tulsa Oilers, Nov. 12 against the Wichita Thunder.

ncaa-logoBurgettstown native and former Penguins Elite goaltender Colin DeAugistine made his NCAA debut for Mercyhurst on Nov. 5 at New Hampshire. On Saturday, he earned his first collegiate win against Holy Cross. The netminder now has a 1-2 record, a 2.68 goals-against average as well as a respectable .922 save percentage.

Two local Ivy League players recorded their first point of the season. Yale forward Andrew Gaus (Wexford) earned an assist against Cornell Saturday. Dartmouth defenseman Tim Shoup (Upper St. Clair) got a helper at Quinnipiac on Friday.

Ohio State forward Luke Stork (Upper St. Clair) had a goal and an assist against Connecticut this past weekend.
