ITR: Upper St Clair Panthers vs. Hampton Talbots

CASTLE SHANNON, pa – – The Upper St Clair Panthers opened the 2019 portion of their season by hosting the Hampton Talbots Thursday night at Ice Castle Arena.

The Panthers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period with two power play goals by Devin Rohrich and Joseph Pulit.

Hampton looked to get some momentum as Upper St Clair’s Andrew Woomer was called for checking from behind, a two minute minor penalty and 10 minute misconduct, which put the Talbots on their second power play of the game. Unfortunately for them, a miscommunication in front of the net between Hampton goaltender Jacob McGee and one of his defensemen resulted in a loose puck that Anthony Carone promptly put into the back of the net for the Panthers, giving Upper St Clair a 3-0 lead. Hampton got one back with under two minutes to play in the second period on a goal by Michael Orban.

Ethan Varley pulled the Talbots to within a goal early in the third period, but the Panthers offense added three more to take the 6-2 victory and remain two points behind Latrobe in the Southeast division in Class-AA, who had beaten Moon Thursday night.
