NEVILLE TWP., Pa. — Raygan Kirk stopped 27 shots for her third collegiate shutout and Jaycee Gebhard climbed within a point of Brittany Howard’s Career points record as Robert Morris blanked Lindenwood 3-0 at the RMU Island Sports Center on Friday.
The Colonials peppered the Lions without result in the first, outshooting Lindenwood 20-5 in the opening frame. It wasn’t until 6:08 of the second that Robert Morris was able to break through on the scoresheet, as senior defender Sarah Lecavalier fired a shot from above the left circle that tipped off of Michaela Boyle’s stick to give the sophomore her 9th power-play goal on the season.
“I moved the puck down to [Jaycee Gebhard],” Lecavalier said. “She gave it back pretty quick, which is great, she saw the opening and it looked like the seas parted for me – the girl stayed with her and I took the ice the best I could and shot through the screen and I was lucky enough to have it go in.”
Fellow senior Natalie Marcuzzi’s goal from the doorstep extended the Colonials lead to two at 15:42, and recent transfer Kyleigh Hanzlik fired home a post-in shot in the first minute of the third to make it 3-0.
