The Robert Morris Colonials touted their chemistry as the catalyst for the teams 2017 championship run. At the onset of the 2017-18 season they’ll have plenty of time to regain that championship chemistry as the team begins their College Hockey America title defense on a ten game, five-week long road trip.
The only chance to see the squad before they hit the road is an exhibition game on September 23rd at the 84 Lumber Arena against former sophomore forward Emma Low-A-Chee and the Toronto-based Ryerson Rams.
Over the next six weeks Paul Colontino’s squad will take a journey that will encompass a total of 6,190 miles from Neville Island. The adventure will take them to Mankato, Minnesota (892mi); Orono, Maine (856mi); Providence, Rhode Island (575mi); State College (154mi); and will close out with a trip to Lindenwood, Missouri (618mi).
Eight of the next nine games will be held at the 84 Lumber Arena as RIT, Ohio State and Mercyhurst (along with former Director of Hockey Operations and new Lakers assistant Kelley Steadman) make visits to the Island. A single game at Colgate on December 9th splits the home stand before a home matchup with CHA finalist Syracuse opens up the 2018 portion of the schedule.
The team will then complete the back end of the four game series with Ohio State before running the CHA contingent to end the regular season. A trip to Rochester starts the conference run while visits from Penn State and Lindenwood close out the home schedule. The Colonials will end the season slate on the road with series against Mercyhurst and Syracuse.
The 2018 CHA tournament will once again be held at the HARBORCenter in Buffalo, NY with the first round being contested March 2nd and the championship on March 3rd.
