With the first and second place teams in College Hockey America clashing this weekend, Penn State hoped to leapfrog Robert Morris in the top spot.
Those hopes were dashed on Saturday, as the Colonials rallied from a one-goal deficit to hand the Nittany Lions a 4-2 loss at Pegula Ice Arena. With the win, the Colonials are now four points ahead of Penn State pending the results of Sunday’s rematch.
Robert Morris has relied on its top line to produce offense for much of the season, but the Colonials won with contributions from Aneta Ledlova, Katherine Murphy and Amanda Pantaleo.
After starting the second game of the Windjammer Classic a week ago, sophomore Lauren Bailey went back to her usual Friday starting slot, stopping 25 of 27 shots.
The Colonials and Nittany Lions face off at noon on Sunday in the rematch.
