Penguins Cup Push: A

The race for Penguins Cup playoff positioning is in the final week and very few things have been decided! Here are the scenarios for the single-A classification.

NOTES: All first-round home games will be played the week of February 25-28. The second round will be played the week of March 4-7 and consists of neutral-site games. Any ties that are broken by the tiebreaker for penalty minutes (PIM’s) will not be declared until the team with the lesser amount finishes their season.

NORTH

SCENARIOS:

No. 2 Seed: West Allegheny holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Meadville. The lesser team receives the No. 3 seed.

West Allegheny with a win OR a Meadville regulation loss in either game OR an overtime loss AND one Meadville loss in any format.
Meadville with a West Allegheny regulation loss AND any combination of three points OR two wins and a West Allegheny overtime loss.

No. 5 Seed: Fox Chapel holds a 78 penalty-minute tiebreaker over Sewickley Academy. The lesser team receives the No. 6 seed.

Fox Chapel with a win AND any Sewickley Academy loss OR both teams have the same result AND the Foxes have 79 less penalty minutes than Sewickley Academy in their final games OR an overtime loss AND a regulation loss by Sewickley Academy.
Sewickley Academy with a win AND any loss by Fox Chapel OR both teams have the same result AND the Panthers have 79 less penalty minutes than Fox Chapel.

No. 8 Seed: Blackhawk holds a 37 penalty minute tiebreaker over Beaver and a head-to-head tiebreaker over Deer Lakes. Beaver holds a win and a 103 penalty-minute lead over Deer Lakes. The winner takes the final seed and the lesser teams are eliminated from contention.

Blackhawk with a win AND the Cougars take 37 or less penalty minutes than the Bobcats in their final game OR an overtime loss AND a Beaver loss OR both Blackhawk and Beaver win and the Cougars take 37 or less penalty minutes than Beaver in their final game OR Blackhawk and Beaver lose in overtime AND Deer Lakes loses in any format AND the Cougars take 37 or less penalty minutes than the Bobcats in their final game OR Blackhawk and Beaver both lose in regulation AND Deer Lakes loses in any format AND the Cougars take 37 or less penalty minutes than the Bobcats in their final game.
Beaver with a win AND a loss by Blackhawk in any format OR an overtime loss AND a loss by Blackhawk in regulation AND a Deer Lakes loss in any format OR an overtime loss AND a Blackhawk loss in regulation AND a Deer Lakes win AND the Bobcats take 103 less penalty minutes than the Lancers in their final game OR both teams get the same number of points (win or overtime loss) AND Deer Lakes loses in regulation AND the Bobcats take 37 or less penalty minutes than the Cougars OR Beaver and Blackhawk both lose in regulation AND Deer Lakes loses in overtime AND the Bobcats take 37 or less penalty minutes than the Cougars AND the Bobcats take 103 less penalty minutes than the Lancers in their final game.

No. 1 Seed: South Fayette and Thomas Jefferson play on Monday. South Fayette holds a win over Thomas Jefferson in the regular season series to this point. Thomas Jefferson holds a 71 penalty minute tiebreaker over South Fayette

South Fayette with a win OR an overtime loss AND a Thomas Jefferson loss in any format in their final game.
Thomas Jefferson with two wins OR an overtime win over South Fayette AND a win over Wheeling Park OR a win AND a point in their final game OR a win AND the Jaguars have less than 71 penalty minutes than South Fayette combined over their final games.

No. 5 Seed: The winner of Norwin-Westmont Hilltop on Monday gets the No. 5 seed, the loser gets the No. 6 seed.
