CECIL TWP., Pa. — Peters Township used a strong defensive effort to down the Canon-McMillan Big Macs 3-0 in their PIHL Class-AAA quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday at Printscape Arena.
The Indians led 2-0 by the time the first period was halfway through, as Torrey Schwartz and Nico Watsula fired home goals in the first 8:37. The Big Macs had opportunity after opportunity on odd-man breaks but were unable to get their offense into rhythm enough to capitalize. Jeremy Anthos iced the game late with an empty net goal for the Indians.
Mario Eafrati stopped 32-of-34 for Canon-McMillan, and Alex Wilbert stopped the 17 on his way to a shutout for the Indians.
Peters Township moves on to play Mt. Lebanon at the RMU Island Sports Center next Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
Matt Gajtka and Mitch were on the call for this contest, as seen on our Facebook page.
