PITTSBURGH, Pa – Toronto and Montreal. Two original six cities that have no love lost for each other, rivals on the ice for as long as they’ve existed. The catch? This is the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), not the NHL. As part of it’s inaugural season, the PWHL has gone on tour sending their own original six franchises (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Minnesota, Boston, and New York) to hockey markets throughout the east giving fans a glimpse of a fresh brand of women’s hockey.
PWHL Toronto and PWHL Montreal called the ice at PPG Paints Arena home on Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 8,850 fans that were not only excited to see a hockey game, but were there to celebrate the game we all love.
