WHEELING, WV. — The Wheeling Nailers started off the year with a preseason game against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday night. The Nailers won, 5-4, after a five minute overtime and a six round shootout. In regulation, Wheeling saw goals from Nick Sorkin (2), Riley Bourbonnais, and Hunter Fejes. While the Cincinnati Cycoles found goals from Justin Danforth, Winston Day Chief, and Anthony Florentino (2). In the shoot-out the Cyclones recorded one goal from Justin Danforth and the Nailers won with two goals, Cam Brown and Garrett Meurs.
The game included a Robert Morris University alumni, Daniel Leavens, who had a three point night after recording assists on both of Sorkin’s goals and Fejes.
The Nailers will take on the Cyclones again Sunday, Oct. 8 in Wheeling with a 5:05 p.m. puck drop.
