The Cavaliers celebrate their second period goal -- Amy Guido/Kiski Cavaliers

WHITE TWP., Pa. — Mason Pierce scored twice in regulation, once in the shootout and Eric Petika stopped 57-of-59 shots he faced as the Kiski Area Cavaliers defeated the Indiana Indians 3-2 at S&T Bank Arena on Thursday night.

Pierce opened up the scoring at 2:41 of the first, streaking down the left wing and firing a shot from the top of the circle, through an Indians defender and past Seamus O’Connor. Indiana followed up the goal with an individual effort of their own as Ethan Agnello collected a loose puck along the boards and skated towards the face-off dot before firing a wrist shot through the five-hole of Eric Petika to tie things up with 36.5 seconds remaining.

The Cavaliers continued to get opportunities on the advantage, but to no avail and the two teams headed into the second tied at two. Pierce’s second goal came after a scramble in front as O’Connor lied face-down on the ice, the sophomore pushed the rebound into the cage for the go-ahead goal at 2:05. Orlando Clark’s working-class goal in the crease a mere 45 seconds later tied things up for the Indians.
