PIHL announces playoff brackets

The PIHL announced the playoff seeding and brackets for all three classifications on Saturday evening. The playoffs will begin Monday, March 6 and conclude with the 2017 Penguins Cup, which will take place at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex March 21 and 22.

In Triple-A, eight teams have been selected, with first-round games taking place on Thursday, March 9. Pittsburgh Central Catholic won the regular season title and top seed. They will host Butler at 9 p.m. at Alpha Ice Complex.

Ten Double-A teams will participate, with play-in games taking place Monday, March 6. The top three teams in each conference received byes directly into the first round. Moon is the top seed in the West, while Plum earned first place in the East.

In Single-A, the top team in each conference receiving a bye, with Franklin Regional and Baldwin taking home top honors. The six play-in games will take place Monday or Tuesday.
