The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League, citing public health concerns related to the covid-19, or coronavirus, outbreak, has suspended the remainder of the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school playoffs for a minimum of two weeks, per a press release issued to the teams.

The press release states that this announcement “mirrors the PIAA news release dated March 12, 2020.” PIAA has suspended the boys’ and girls’ basketball state tournaments for the same amount of time.

“PIHL will also need to work with the East to discuss States and if they can be rescheduled,” the league continued in the press release.

Earlier Thursday, the Flyers Cup announced it would aim to complete all semifinal and championship games by Sunday, Mar. 15, but later in the day announced it has also postponed those games for two weeks. The state championships were originally scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 21, 2020.

“We have no known situations within the PIHL” with regard to a player, coach, or other staff member being diagnosed with covid-19, Commissioner John Mucha said to the Tribune-Review.
