Robert Morris women’s hockey forward Lexi Templeman was named Pittsburgh Magazine’s best female athlete in the magazine’s annual Best of the Burgh reader’s choice awards, released on Wednesday.
The voting for the award took place before Robert Morris president Chris Howard announced in May that the program and the school’s men’s hockey team were permanently and immediately closed.
Templeman, 21, was one of the Colonials’ captains as a senior in 2020-21, leading the team with 23 assists and 30 points in 25 games.
The Robert Morris team won the 2021 CHA Tournament, the program’s third title, and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second time in the team’s history.
Templeman is one of three Robert Morris players to have found new hockey homes since the announcement that the programs will close.
Templeman, defender Emily Curlett and goaltender Raygan Kirk have all committed to finishing their college careers at Ohio State.
