The Robert Morris men’s hockey team was selected to come in third place in the annual Atlantic Hockey Conference coaches’ poll, which was released last Tuesday.
The Colonials finished seventh in the AHC regular season standings in 2017-18, the Colonials worst finish since also coming in seventh in 2011-12, but finished second in the 2018 AHC Tournament, losing to Air Force in the championship game for the second straight season.
Robert Morris has made it to the conference final three straight years and in four of the last five They won the postseason tournament in 2014 and won the conference’s regular-season title in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
Air Force was predicted to repeat with 97 points and seven first-place votes. Canisius was picked second with 92 points and four first-place votes. The Colonials had 66 points in third, one ahead of Mercyhurst, which had 65 points. Then followed AIC, Army, RIT, Holy Cross, Bentley, Sacred Heart and Niagara.
The Colonials will make their 2018-19 debut with an exhibition game against Brock University at RMU Island Sports center on Sunday, Oct. 7 and will being their regular season Oct. 12 against Bowling Green.
