Robert Morris forward Daniel Leavens and Brady Ferguson have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to college hockey’s best player.
Ferguson leads the Colonials and is fourth in the nation with 42 points. He is the country’s most prolific player on the power play, with 22 of his points coming with a man advantage.
Linemate Daniel Leavens comes in 11th in the country with 34 points, and he leads all of NCAA hockey with five game-winning goals.
The Colonials duo is two of 66 players nationally that have been nominated for the award. Fans can help choose the eventual winner by voting at http://www.hobeybaker.com/vote.
The 66 nominees are narrowed to 10 finalists, the top three of which are invited to the NCAA Frozen Four, where the award is given out. This year’s Frozen Four is being held in Chicago and the award will be given out Friday, April 7.
Robert Morris has had a Hobey Baker finalist each of the last two seasons, with Zac Lynch being honored in 2016 and Cody Wydo in 2015.
