Justin Kapelmaster has played exactly one weekend of hockey in the Atlantic Hockey Association.
It’s now one weekend of award-winning hockey in the Atlantic Hockey Association.
Making his AHA debut with Robert Morris in a weekend series against Bentley, Kapelmaster turned aside 80 of 81 Falcons shots to win the conference’s goaltender of the week award.
A redshirt senior graduate transfer from Ferris State, Kapelmaster pitched a 35-save shutout in his AHA debut on Friday and stopped 45 of 46 in a 4-1 Robert Morris win on Saturday as the Colonials swept a Bentley squad that finished second in the conference a year ago.
Through three games, Kapelmaster has a .973 save percentage and a 0.98 goals-against average, which has him fourth and sixth in the nation, respectively.
The Colonials, which received votes this week in the USCHO poll for the first time since the 2017-18 season, will visit Army for two games this weekend.
