NEVILLE TWP, Pa. — Former Robert Morris defenseman Rob Mann has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
Mann, 24, is an Oshawa, Ontario native. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defenseman was the Colonials’ captain in 2016-17 and set career highs with goals (3), assists (8) and points (11) in his 36 games played.
Reading is 36-23-2-2 and is in second place in the ECHL’s North Division. The Royals’ next game is Wednesday at Santander Arena in Reading against the Manchester Monarchs.
“They’re in a playoff spot, so I’ll have to go earn some ice time and see what happens,” Mann said.
In his four-year career, Mann totaled six goals and 15 assists for 21 points and was a plus-14.
“Rob has been a great leader for this program,” head coach Derek Schooley said in a press release. “We are very excited for him signing with Reading. Rob will be a success and he will be missed.”
He is the first member of the 2016-17 Robert Morris team to sign a professional contract.
