CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — The Thomas Jefferson Jaguars punched their ticket to the semifinals in dominant fashion, defeating the Blackhawk Cougars in the first round, 5-0, Tuesday at Ice Castle Arena.

Though it remained close – and clean, with no penalties – in the first period, with only a lone goal by Riley Holzer 3:47 in, it became a rout in the second period. Two goals by Colby Bilski, sandwiched around goals by Luke Rayman and Brett Smith, gave the Jaguars an insurmountable 5-0 lead after two periods of play.

Thomas Jefferson goaltender Luke Ripepi continued to play shutout hockey in the third, securing the 5-0 win. He saved all nine shots he faced through the game.

Blackhawk goaltender Matthew Bibbee made 33 saves on 38 shots in the loss.

Thomas Jefferson will move on to the semifinals where they will face North Catholic at the RMU island Sports Center on Tuesday, Mar. 10 at 9 p.m.
